SOLO Session – Vans X Lost Art Rowley [SOLOS] Launch

Geoff’s influence on skateboarding as a whole is undeniable and I’m sure he would’ve been touched to see so many in attendance and despite everything he has accomplished, is “still the same guy he was when he was in Liverpool” Mackey assured me.”

“It was super important to me that my part started in Liverpool, and ended in my current hometown of Long Beach. I felt like the Vans tradition wouldn’t be there unless we looked at it like that. The opening scene was at Edge Lane Skatepark which is where I spent my youth. It was the first skatepark I ever went to and the terrace houses in the background are where my parents grew up, met and then married.”

“I think it’s important to have other interests. Just get out, leave your board at home one day, or just go for a bike ride. As I’m getting older I’m getting into stretching and doing things to take care of myself, I’m always walking my dog. Drawing is really helpful; I wouldn’t recommend graffiti because you can go to jail. But stuff like that is always cool. “

“I guess since I started skating I always wanted to learn new tricks. Then after a certain amount of years when you’re skating every single day, you do all the regular tricks. So you try and flip into a trick or out of a trick, or into and out of manuals, it looks cool and you get stoked. I just like doing new tricks. Even nowadays there are so many tricks that I could’ve done five years ago but I’ll do it at the park; its rad that I never did it before. I’m just into that sorta progression.”
